Skater Boy’s Journey Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

• Starting the Game
  • A cutscene plays when loading the game for the first time. This explains the basic lore of the game.
  • On the welcome screen:
    • Select Play near the bottom center to begin.
    • Select the speaker button on the top right corner to turn the game’s sounds on or off.
    • Select the exclamation point on the top left corner to see the game’s developer data.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

    • With your keyboard, press the W key, space bar, or up arrow to jump. Press twice to double jump.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers to jump. Tap twice to double jump.

    • Wrench icon: Indicates whether you’ve picked up the wrench

  • Basic rules
    • Objectives
      • Grab the wrench somewhere in the level.
      • Move to the toolbox.
    • Moving around
      • Press the space bar, W key, or up arrow or tap on the screen with your fingers to get started.
      • Once you get started, the skater boy moves by himself.
        • He stops moving once he hits a wall.
        • He will change direction when he hits a wall and jumps.
      • Make him jump or double jump as needed to ascend or avoid hazards.
        • Have him hop on a rail or bench to grind.
        • Have him hop from wall to wall to climb.
      • Pass by the wrench to collect it.
    • Hazards
      • Hazards include cannons, spikes and blades.
      • How you avoid hazards depends on whether they’re stationary or moving.
        • Spinning blades, spikes, and barbed wire are stationary hazards.
          • Jump over them to clear them.
          • If the spikes are located above you, it’s enough to roll beneath them without jumping.
        • Cannon bullets are moving hazards. Time your moves so that you can outrun them.
      • You will wipe out and perish if you hit any of them
  • Levels
    • Stages
      • There are 16 levels in the game, which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You beat a level by collecting the wrench and safely making it to the toolbox at the end of the level.
      • You lose a stage if you run into a cannonball, a saw blade, or spikes.
      • This game offers unlimited continues.
    • Level end screen
      • The win and game over screens hold the following controls:
        • Select the reset button on the left to play again.
        • Select the hamburger button at the center to quit and return to the level selection screen.
        • Select the arrow button on the right to proceed to the next level. This is only available on the win screen.
        • Select the home button on the right to quit and return to the welcome screen. This is only available on the game over screen.
  • Tips
    • You can wait next to a wall or slide down a wall for an extended period of time to adjust your timing.
    • You can wait a while to start the level to better align the movement of obstacles to make it easier to get past them.
